Heart disease and diabetes related to inactivity and diet.
Population
Women age 40 and older living in West Virginia and other areas of Appalachia.
Goals
Encourage healthy diet changes, focusing on food selection and preparation. Secondarily, encourage increased physical activity, focusing on aerobic exercise.
Methods
Individually tailored mailed newsletters, an interactive Web site with cooking demonstrations and health information, and regionally appropriate healthy meals recipes and cookbook.
