We work with health organizations to develop and implement communication
solutions designed to connect the health issues they are concerned
about with the individuals they serve.
So, what do we actually DO?
We do two things.
- We consult with our clients to help them determine
the role health communications can play in addressing their needs
and to determine which specific health communication activities
can do this best. The goal of this work is to settle on well-thought-out,
theoretically and empirically sound communication solutions. Activities
we carry out in this realm include:
- Exploratory activities designed to reveal and hash out best
communications solutions.
- Formative research into the health-related characteristics
and needs of the target audience.
- Developing, advising, and evaluating communications plans
by:
- Drawing on our knowledge of health behavior and health
education theories, models, and literature.
- Drawing on our knowledge of technology and design, and
the role these can play in addressing health goals.
- Drawing on our extensive experience working with similar
needs, clients, target audiences, and strategies.
- We develop and implement the solutions settled
on through consulting (above) or brought to us post facto. Activities
included in this work include:
- Development planning for all types of solutions.
- Implementation plan development, including marketing plans,
evaluation plans, etc.
- Project management and oversight, from concept through implementation.
- Health content development.
- Design and production of print materials, including individually
tailored materials.
- Production of interactive educational and program support
software, including Internet-based applications, CD-ROMs,
and kiosk solutions.
- Production of video and other A/V media.
- Field research, to test and refine solutions.
- Evaluation and survey development.
What is our specialty?
Our specialties are health and communications. Although the services
we offer can be applied to many different fields and purposes, we
concentrate on the health field. And within the health field, we
focus on communications as a way to achieve goals. Concentrating
in this way allows us to offer the specialized knowledge and experience
that our health-focused clients need. But that's where our concentration
stops. Because each health issue and target population is unique,
we try to keep the specific types of solutions we offer broad, allowing
our clients and the up front exploratory services we provide to
do the focusing. Even so, there are certain areas where we have
special expertise.
